The State Fund Agriculture paid another BGN 128 under the Single Area Payment Scheme (SAPS)

In February, the State Fund Agriculture paid another direct subsidy of BGN 128 million to farmers under the Single Area Payment Scheme (SAPS). Subsidies received beneficiaries for whom the updating of data in the Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS) wasn’t completed in December.

For the first time the area payment was made in December 2016 for the 2016 campaign, when the State Fund Agriculture paid over half a million BGN to nearly 42,000 candidates. The overall aid budget for the 2016 campaign under the SAPS is BGN 741 million. The calculations so far have been made on the basis of an indicative rate of 198 BGN/hectare. The final rate under SAPS will be determined after the update of the layer “Areas Eligible” on the basis of the submitted complains and after clarifying the ownership of the established double declared areas for 2016.
