The European Commission has approved Bulgaria’s proposal for the seventh amendment to the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. It defines the new scope of areas, other than mountain areas, facing significant natural constraints (НР2) based on biophysical criteria listed in Annex III to Regulation 1305/2013 and further refinement.

100,751 support applications were submitted under 2020 Campaign, of which 3,172 were submitted online via the State Fund Agriculture’s Electronic Services System (ESS). So far, finalised applications amount to 100,055. Applications under the area payment schemes and measures totalled 65,474. Accepted applications cover 3,806,396 hectares of land. Over 15% of the areas applied for are delimited in ESS - more than 500,000 ha. Under the Single Area Payment Scheme (SAPS), 56,464 farmers with 3,767,557 declared hectares of land have submitted applications for participation.

The management of SF Agriculture has allocated BGN 1 million under the de minimis scheme as an incentive for the marketing of the Bulgarian cherry harvest during the forthcoming purchase campaign. Processing plants will receive financial support, with the subsidy covering part of the costs related to the purchase, transport and processing of this year’s harvest. The aid is part of the measures introduced by the state as a relief for farmers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Submission of project proposals under sub-measure 5.1 “Support for investment in preventive measures aimed at limiting the consequences of possible natural disasters, adverse climatic events and catastrophic events” from measure 5 “Restoring agricultural production potential damaged by natural disasters, adverse climatic events and catastrophic events and introduction of appropriate prevention actions” under RDP 2014-2020 was launched on 8th May 2020. The total budget of the sub-measure amounts to nearly BGN 46 million. The deadline for project proposals submission is 10th July 2020.

State Fund Agriculture paid nearly BGN 46 million (BGN 45 898 204) under Measure 12 “Natura 2000 payments and the Water Framework Directive” within 2019 Campaign RDP 2014-2020. 11,481 farmers received support.
