The management of SF Agriculture provided BGN 30 million in the form of short-term loans to fruit and vegetable producers - field and greenhouse production, for the 2020 harvest. Of these, BGN 5 million shall be distributed in support of greenhouse production.
The move is aimed at assisting Bulgarian fruit and vegetable producers. It is also in line with the request of The National Greenhouse Manufacturers Association that measures need to be taken following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Farmers who have submitted and completed an application for Coupled support schemes for fruit and vegetables – open field and/or greenhouse production for the 2020 harvest shall be eligible for support. Gardeners and orchards are required to have applied for support under the same schemes at least 3 years ago (2017 Campaign, 2018 Campaign and 2019 Campaign). Loans shall be provided at an interest rate of 2% and are to be repaid by 30th June 2021. Jointly with relevant MAFF directorates, SF Agriculture shall draw up guidelines that are to be approved by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry.
