The State Fund "Agriculture" was established in 1998 by the Law on Assistance to Agricultural Producers. Through the Fund, the Bulgarian beneficiaries receive financial support from the national budget, through the instruments of the Common Agricultural Policy and the Common Fisheries Policy of the EU.

The governing bodies of SFA "Agriculture" - RA are the Management Board and the Executive Director. The Management Board consists of 11 members and is chaired by the Minister of Agriculture. The Management Board determines the basic provisions and carries out the general management and control of the Fund's activities, according to the applicable national legislation and the law of the European Union.

The operational management of SFA "Agriculture" - RA is carried out by an executive director who represents the institution. It has the status of a first-rate budget manager. The Executive Director organizes and directs the activities of the Fund in the implementation of all its functions.

The structure of the Fund includes central management and 28 regional directorates. On the territory of the whole country, 11 regional payment agencies have been set up as a structure, to which 11 regional technical inspectors work.
